Life is fraught with many tough decisions. Luckily the decisions you need to make in the islands are much simpler. Which beach to go to...what to drink...what to do...
I don't want to overwhelm you with links so if you need a recommendation let me know. I'm more than happy to help anyone that emails me. stuart@usviservices.com
Virgin Islands Driving Map - This website is great because you get an idea on how to get around the island, you can see where everything is located and it will also give you driving directions.
Mahogany Run Golf - Scenic golf course overlooking the ocean and home to "The Devil's Triangle." All I can say is double the amount of golf balls you normally carry.
Taxi Rates & Phone Numbers - This website lists the standard fares for taxis. Plus it has some contact numbers for you as well.
Air Force One Taxi Service - Papa Bear is a very reliable guy with excellent rates, they look better than the published fares. Great for large bookings for your wedding guests. Everyone has a great time with him and if you take him for an island tour you will get an in depth peek into the Virgin Islands from showing you then sampling the local fruits and herbs that grow in the wild, to why the airport was renamed, to every other detail that even most locals don't know. He truly knows just about everything and everyone. Look for some of his videos on You Tube, they will crack you up.
Blue Island Divers - For SCUBA diving this is the best and only place to go. The other dive places go out in massive boats with 20 plus people, most locals call them cattle boats. Blue Island goes out with 6 people, the divemasters are excellent, and they have the best wreck sites of anyone around because of their location. Try Miss Opportunities dive, its a gorgeous wreck in 100 feet of water, and you can swim through and see intact light fixtures. Plenty of swimouts and direct sunlight so it is an easy dive.
See & Ski - Call Matias the owner at 340-775-6265. These are very comfortable double hull motor boats so they ride very smoothly in the rough waves, plus they have an accurate fuel gauge so you don't need to refuel on your way back in, which saves time and aggravation over the other rental companies. They comfortably seat 8 people and there is plenty of shade in the back and sun in the front. And, if you need a captain and my schedule is open I'd be more than happy to be your captain and tour guide FREE of charge. I just love getting out on the water.
Coral World - Our version of Sea World. Fun for the whole family to see all of the native animals. Watch them feed the turtles, rays and sharks. Tons of stuff to do like scuba, kayaks, submarine tours, and an underwater helmet nature walk for the whole family. They have a new swim with the seals tank as well.
Fine Dining recommendations.
- Indigo at Magens Point Resort has amazing food at reasonable prices.
- Havana Blue on Marriott Morningstar Beach, great food and watch the cruiseships sail into the sunset.
- Oceana, fantastic dinner right on the water in a nice historical building.
- Old Stone Farmhouse, very elegant dining near Mahogony Run
- Herve, downtown with gorgeous views of the harbor. Pricey but the nicest dinner on the island.
Casual & Local Eats
- Jacks - My favorite local hangout. Great people and good cheap eats.
- Iggie's Beach Bar at Bolongo Bay. Raw bar, good food for moderate prices right on the beach. Go barefoot.
- Gladys's Cafe in the Royal Dane Mall on the waterfront is excellent for local dishes. Try the conch in lemon butter sauce.
- Tickles Dockside Pub in Crown Bay Marina. Excellent food all day long, and they are one of the few breakfast places on the island.
- Fungi's Reggae Bar in Point Pleasant Resort - super casual place with local and standard fare on the water...Literally. Basically you are on a dock with a roof.
